Outdoor Teaching Strategies

Course Description

Do you want to build confidence and learn practical strategies for successful outdoor learning, including managing students, adapting to weather, using technology outdoors, and making the case for taking students outside? This online, self-paced course is designed to equip educators with the knowledge, skills, tools, and resources to take environmental education learning outdoors. This course is especially helpful for classroom teachers – and is designed to empower them to improve their practice and confidence in finding ways to increase outdoor learning in their classrooms.

 

Learning Objectives

  1. Explain the value of outdoor learning, including its benefits, definition, and differences from indoor learning environments.
  2. Assess barriers and opportunities for outdoor learning and identify strategies to support access, inclusion, and implementation.
  3. Design and implement effective outdoor learning experiences using appropriate planning, instructional strategies, and management practices.
